Agora is mainly about Hypatia, a notable female mathematician who is more interested in theories and the study of celestial bodies than faith and her slave Davus who turned to Christianity for freedom and his unrequited love for his master. The movie showed a great deal of knowledge, passion and purposefulness. One thing I like about the movie is how it showed politics and religion together, it was intense. Also, I've learned that MOST of what was shown in the flick are factual including Hypatia's close relationship with the governor Orestes, the fact that one of her pupils, Synesius, later became a Christian bishop, her revolting ways of rejecting suitors and something about the Library of Alexandria being engulfed to flames, so I must say that this movie is one real deal. It's a far cry from mainstream history films. I fell in love with how it all ended, it was unpredictable.
